Idk how many people have actually heard anything by David Ford, but I felt in a sharing mood.

Live State of the Union

It's an old recording, one of his first solo gigs after Easyworld split up. But basically, it's a big old political/social rant, combined with absolute musical genius and the most perfect timing ever. For anyone who doesn't know how David Ford gigs work... there was only one man on stage during that performance. Just him. Playing guitar, piano, various bits of percussion, and all the vocals. Just him. I've honestly lost count of the number of times I've seen him perform that song live, and it still astounds me that he can manage it all with such perfect timing. Watching him, he's running around the stage like a complete madman, switching from one instrument to the next, turning on recording loops, stopping them again, using different mics for all the different vocals, complete insanity.

But fucking hell, it works.

(also, he has a song called Katie which includes the line "you know I'd hate to come over obsessive coz I'm really really really I'm not like that at all" which will never stop amusing me ^_^)

The Unauthoraised Biography of David Ford - the Early Years

Everyone should read that entry. Even if you have no idea who the hell David Ford is (...which admittedly, most of you do, because I have a tendancy to tell everyone I ever meet to listen to him because he is made of pure win), it's just hilarious.

At school I was an appalling student. By the age of 14 I was able to read at the level of a spaniel. Diagnosed with crippling word-blindness, number- blindness, colour-blindness, it was a damn miracle I could see anything at all. The other kids soon caught on to my conditions and would often throw bicycle tyres at me. The resemblance to both the letter O and the number zero meant I would have no chance of seeing it coming.

*falls over giggling*

I WANTS ME A DAVID! God, I can't wait for Milk & Cookies
