Ok, I may be fangirling

Ok, so I'm not gonna deny that I fangirl my boys when they're just being dorky and silly and pretty and stuff. That would be stupid and everyone would know it was untrue.
But nothing, and I mean nothing will make me fangirl someone more than witnessing a display of pure raw talent and flair. And if they step away from that moment of epic and immediately lay the credit at someone else's feet, I will fangirl even more. And if they then bounce off into the distance being dorky and silly and wonderful, then the fangirling will go through the roof.
I've been vaguely following F1 for a while now, and Lewis has always been my favourite. He has that raw talent, that drive to always do better, that humility that makes all of my favourites be... my favourite (whether it's sports people, actors, musicians, whatever). He's also completely adorable, hyper, bouncy, silly, and knows how to make fun of himself. He knows when it's time to be serious and when it's time to just have a laugh.
But really, this is the first season where I've really properly been following it closely, watched every single race (whenever possible) and... it's all gone wrong. But the thing is, even when he's been at the back, when he's not had a single tiny hope of getting anywhere near the points, he's still been back there fighting for position. Whichever part of the grid he's in, that's the bit that will be interesting. Because even with a crap car, he's still good enough to overtake quite a few people. Because for him, 15th is better than 16th, and anything is better than DNF (it's the same as Rafa's theory of keep fighting to the last, right up to the very last point, even when everything's going horrible wrong... coz losing 6-1 is better than losing 6-0).
But then finally in Germany he actually has a car good enough to give him a chance of actual points, and... he gets fucked over with a puncture and ends up in last. Oh the luck of Lewis Hamilton 09.
So here we are, finally, with Lewis in a decent car, qualifying right up on the second row and... we nearly have an incident off the starting line, but some quick reactions get him out of the way and from there on in he had the perfect race. Overtaking - perfect. Pitting - perfect. And once he got in front he just sat out there getting faster and faster and no one ever got withing 2 seconds of him even when he'd had more stops than them. Ok, so Renault had their fuck up with Nando's wheel not being put on properly, but Lewis had been right up behind him before he'd pitted and they were on a 3 stop strategy (why? Ok so it got them into pole but they were only ever gonna go backwards with that, I just don't get it) so even if that hadn't happened Lewis was always gonna end up ahead. It was absolutely, completely and totally flawless.
And when he finishes? First he lets the whole world know that his team is fucking AWESOME, then he bounces about hugging anyone that comes near him and skips about all over the place and gets on his podium and can't stop bouncing the whole time and gets his shinies (and how he's missed them) and has epic Champagne celebrations and it turns out the constructors shinies make a really good shield for defense against Champagne attacks XD
So yeah. Basically, that's why I'm fangirling Lewis Hamilton like mad right now. You really find out about a person when they have a bad run. For the first half of this season, Lewis had a crap car. Anyone could see that. And everyone could see why. But when asked about the race, he never brought that up unless someone specifically asked if the car was shit (when it would be a case of "ngl, we're having issues"). Compare Jeson Button. Before this season, 1 win in like 8 years or somethin ridiculous like that. He starts this season in basically the most epic car on the track and is winning everything, not because he's better than anyone else, but because the car was ridiculous (compare the cars on the straights - there, the biggest fact is gonna be the car, not the driver. On the straights, the Brawns were always pulling ahead of everyone else. The Mclarens were always falling behind. The Brawns were just faster cars. The Mclarens had fucked up aerodynamics and couldn't get any power down, no matter how well the drivers did in the corners). Everyone else sorts their upgrades out so the cars are more equal, and he's finding himself in the middle of the grid. What's the problem? His car's shit. Yeah, of course it is.
Now let me say, I used to like Jeson Button. Then he won a couple of races and started acting like it was expected that he would win. Like something was horribly wrong with the world if he wasn't on the top of that podium. There are two things that piss me off more than anything else, and they are people making excuses for their own failure (take some fucking responsibility man, at least suggest one thing that maybe you could've done better, but no, everything was the car's fault), and bad winners. And this whole season he's been doing one or the other. He's just acting completely arrogant. How bout this - you get 22 podiums in your two seasons (when you have officials making up rules after the race and penalising you for breaking them) and you can act like you're better than everyone else... oh wait, that was Lewis. You've had 22 podium finishes in 10 seasons. Bit of a difference there.
Anyway, since no fangirl post of mine is complete without a picspam...
